Hero MotoCorp is set to debut in the electric two-wheeler market with its upcoming Vida range. Scheduled to launch on 7th October, Vida is a new all-electric brand with a new logo and identity under Hero MotoCorp. The new and upcoming Vida electric scooter will boast swappable battery tech and the company states that it will come with a range of best-in-class features.
The Vida EV will get a swappable battery pack, which comes from Hero MotoCorp’s strategic partnership with Gogoro, a Taiwan-based company with expertise in swappable battery tech. Hero MotoCorp also has a partnership with Ather Energy which could offer its charging network and equipment. ‘You can now charge your electric scooter at home, in parking lots, and at our public charging stations,’ Hero MotoCorp states in a recent tweet.
The electric scooter has been teased a number of times on social media, when the company also revealed that the scooter has been tested for 1,006 prototypes of parts and scooters, adding that a total of 2 lakh km have been covered in testing. Several actual parts and prototypes that were tested at Hero MotoCorp’s R&D centre, the Center of Innovation and Technology (CIT), Jaipur, have been put in a glass case for the public to see at Gurugram.
The company also states that it took 25,000 hours developing the new electric scooter. The new Vida scooter will be up against the likes of Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and Ather 450X. Expect it to be a high-speed scooter with speeds in excess of 50 km/h.
