- She started her career as a teacher and went on to work as a principal in a school.
- In 1994, she started her personality development school ‘SpeakEasy’ in Hyderabad. Her son Anand Deverakonda also worked at her school.

We cleaned up the house and made a greeting card with some pictures and hearts and wrote, ‘I Love you’. She started crying when she saw it. I didn’t understand what made her cry. I don’t think we understood the concept of happy tears then. It made her emotional. So, that’s my first memory of gifting something to her.”
